About the Author
Ann Snitow is Associate Professor of Literature and Gender Studies at Lang College, The New School, in New York City. A longtime activist, Snitow has cofounded The Network of East-West Women, No More Nice Girls, and New York Radical Feminists. She has written for The Village Voice, The Nation, The Women’s Review of Books, Dissent, and many other publications, and is coeditor of Powers of Desire: The Politics of Sexuality and The Feminist Memoir Project: Voices from Women's Liberation.

A Ground Breaking Work by a leading feminist scholar

An important and fascinating book about the struggles of women in the ongoing feminist battle, told by one of the leaders of the movement who spent four decades on the front lines. Insights into what it felt like to take on cultural norms and the feelings of being beaten down by the restrictions women faced, restrictions that outlined their lives. Ann Snitow relates her personal struggles to come to grips with how women--and men--saw the movement in different ways and how she personally faced resistance at every turn, while at the same time feeling consumed and stimulated by the fight.
A deeply insightful and personal account from the front lines of one of the world's great movements. A ground breaking work.
