Longtime Investigator Chronicals Sightings of Sasquatch

Newspaperman John Green of Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia began investigating the reports of bipdal hair covered man like animals in the late 1950's. Over the years he has amassed one of the largest databases of sightings. Mr Green published "On Track of the Sasquatch" in 1968 and subsquently "Year of the Sasquatch" and the "Sasquatch File". Mr Green has personally investigated many of the sightings he reports in the Pacific Northwest. This volume is considered by many to be the definitive work on this subject by a lay person. In the mid 1970's Mr Green began putting his reports in format for computer analysis The results of this are discussed at length in this book. Mr. Green's work is significant for the objectivity and also the fact that he has worked with leading Scientists such as Dr Grover Krantz of the University of Washington. Unlike many books on this subject, there are no digressions on paranormal, Mr Green feels the evidence clearly indicates this is a upright ape, a perfectly normal animal. He does cover sightings in other parts of the United States that he has recieved reports of, some of which have been investigated by other researchers. Mr Green reviews the evidence and concludes that it is likely that this creature is nocturnal and is most likely to be seen by humans crossing the road at night in remote forested areas. This book is a MUST for anyone interested in this subject, and it probably the most level headed book on the subject not written by a Scientist that is available. Unlike other "Bigfoot Hunters", Mr Green has worked with Scientists, freely sharing his database and information in order to solve this mystery. My interest in this subject began in the 1970's as a teenager mostly in response to Mr Green's books and also lead to my interest in anthropology and natural history. Since this book is out of print, it is hard, but not impossible to find and definitely worth the effort.

This book is THE classic for Bigfoot enthusiasts. It is comprehensive, detailed, and hugely entertaining with its scores of fascinating case studies. Mr. Green's writing is calm and collected, yet conjures up great atmosphere. This is the book you'll keep coming back to.

Excellent book that badly needs REPRINTED!

Why this entertaining and informative book is so hard to get is beyond me. Hancock House needs to republish this book. This is a massive book that needs to be in every Bigfoot scholar's library. An updated edition would be great. Think about it Mr. Green and Hancock House. A ton of these would sell. This makes a great fireside book too.

As a corporate SAP Recruiter and Trainer for over 5 years working within an international company I provided high-level consultants to high-level clients such as Deloitte & Touche among others. I had to become well versed in the acronym heavy technical software environment of SAP to source, screen and place the right candidates with clients as well as to train other recruiters. I WISH I had these SCM Focus books on hand as they would have been an immeasurable help in explaining the Supply Chain concept from start to finish.

With helpful screen-shots, large text and diagrams in easy to read 'plain' English (at least as plain as you can be to be clear in SAP), it is a great tool for the novice software engineer, the technical recruiter and a great refresher/ reference for the experienced.

Another great output from the author. One of the great strengths of this book is that it is clearly written from a truly independent perspective which means that the author is free to "tell it how it is" and not be biased in any way towards one particular supplier and application. The content is laid out in a very methodical and easy-to-read format which is vital in a book of this nature and it's obvious that a significant investment of time and effort has been made in its publication. I think this book would find a good home on the shelves of all supply chain planners whether they are new to their roles or very experienced - I think everyone will learn something of practical use.

Another Joe Dillard Winner!

I'm a big Joe Dillard/Scott Pratt fan, so it was no surprise to me when by the second chapter of "Blood Money" I was completely hooked. I especially like the fact that Mr. Pratt--unlike most authors who write a series--has his protagonist, Joe, mellow and mature over the course of time. The Joe Dillard of this novel is very different from the one in "An Innocent Client." The story concerns, among other things, an unexpected inheritance that could change one's life drastically. It involves something of great value that represents "blood money" from years earlier. I won't give the plot away (I hate spoilers) but will only say that this Joe Dillard tale spends less time in the courtroom and more in the environs of a small town in Tennessee. It's a taut, beautifully constructed novel with a compelling narrative drive. Joe, his son Jack, his wife Caroline, and a new character, Charlie Story along with her uncle Jasper, comprise a great cast of characters, and the novel moves at a great pace that never lags. I found myself worrying about the characters and feeling for them, which is the hallmark of a fine writer and a really good novel. Five solid stars and many kudos for Scott Pratt. Bravo!

Blood(y) Money

I absolutely loved Books 1-5 in this series. I was so excited that I had Book 6 and 7 to follow. Joe is the kind of man both women and men can relate to and I couldn't wait to see what happened next in his career. The Dillard family has enough quirks to be both believable and lovable. Mr. Pratt skillfully created situations for his characters who responded as one would expect after reading Book 1 which helps the reader get a real sense of their character.

*spoiler alert. stop reading now if you don't want me to ruin the story for you.

Blood Money takes a sharp turn from Books 1-5. Charleston Storey is introduced as a new character and love interest for Joe's son. We are quickly led to believe she is a sweet little country girl with the highest ethics, and then expected to believe her reaction to finding millions of dollars in gold. Her overwhelming greed and disregard for the people she loved was not believable. The death toll mounts and she loses everyone in her life before finally following the advice of the people she respected. Although, I believe many people would also react to the prospect of sudden wealth the same way, it is out of character for Charley.

Lastly, Book 6 seems to take a leap into making it more appealing for the blood and violence crowd. While Joe was fighting both physically and in courtroom in Books 1-5, the body count was much lower and the victims were more deserving. Joe takes more of a backseat in Book 6 and quality of the story suffers for it. I want to read stories of my hero fighting injustice and finding justice in unexpected ways. If I want gratuitous violence I'll watch TV.

While, I was disturbed about the path the writer had taken, I still chose to purchase Book 7. Unfortunately, Book 7 was an even further disappointment and I have now decided not to purchase any possible future installments of this series. I wish I had said goodbye after Book 5 while the ride was still fun.

Somewhat fanciful and disjointed

This was the least of my favorite books. I thought the hidden gold theme was trite. The segments about the crime families took up too much invalid print space. In addition the characters were stock stereotypical veneers of crime families. They simply weren't believable. The story would have been better to have fleshed out the Jordan case and the corruption in the legal system. The Uncle was way too bizarre. The 3 stars were for the well defined characters of Joe and Caroline. JEANNIE

NAUTICAL FICTION PERFECTION.

Muir has become a favorite author and I have enjoyed this latest work thoroughly. I agree that the sulfur in the air near those islands is not a pleasant characteristic in my day and remember it well from my visits. Well researched and written in a style which suits my tastes perfectly, this book fulfills exactly what I expected from this author and this fourth in the series is a work of perfection. You will NOT be disappointed in this book and it will keep you reading. I could hardly put it down and admit I read it too quickly the first time around and am now going back for a second more careful enjoyment. The only criticism I can offer is that I want more! I would prefer a much longer book by this author who has clearly mastered the craft of nautical fiction. How could we ever get enough of the magic of shipmates so perfectly portrayed which fits even into modern era. If you are a sailor or have ever been in the military on long lonely deployments this author will keep you reading. A FINE JOB.

In most of the genre, if the captain is the title character, he is wise, patient and fatherly with junior officers, under control at all times, knowledgeable beyond belief, and often prescient. Oliver Quintrell, on the other hand, has all of the qualities of the sort of captain that junior officers struggled against in, say, the Hornblower or Bolitho novels. He is moody, Quixotic, short tempered, hard hearted, unwilling to consider the input of subordinates, and impulsive. A refresing change.

Captain Quintrell and the pirate

Being a fan of Captain Oliver Quintrell, I expected to enjoy this book, which I did. He is a strong, memorable character, easy to empathize with, and seems to project more with every book in the series. This, I found, is really two books in one -- the first section deals with a gruesome discovery on a distant beach, and the seizure of Quintrell's officers by a particularly nasty pirate, along with the threat to return and take Quintrell's ship, which is currently helpless, being careened. Quintrell's reaction, and the devious plot he carries out to rescue his men and save his ship is edge-of-the-seat reading, very well done. This, however, is not the end of the book, even though it seems logical that it should be. Instead, Muir has more up her sleeve. There is a bit of a hiatus, which felt anti-climactic for a little while, but the pace and suspense soon pick up again with another bloody encounter between our hero and the pirate. The book ends with Quintrell picking up his orders from the Admiralty again, promising a great deal more action to come. Readers will be left waiting for the next book in the series with high anticipation.
