About the Author
Kory Floyd is associate professor and director of graduate MA studies in the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication at Arizona State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Arizona (1998), an M.A. in Speech Communication from the University of Washington (1994), and a B.A. in English Literature from Western Washington University (1991). He has authored or co-authored four other books and more than 60 journal articles and book chapters on topics related to affectionate communication, nonverbal behavior, and family relationships. In addition, he is currently editor of Journal of Family Communication and has been an associate editor of Journal of Social and Personal Relationships. He has earned a number of awards for his research, including the New Scholar of the Year award from the International Network on Personal Relationships.

This is a great book for the Interpersonal Communication class. I received the Teacher's edition but it was still fine.
To me, this was not a boring book, it had a lot more insight than i originally thought.

Easy to read. Gives modern real life examples

The website (located on the back cover) is great and gives the chapter overview, flash cards for vocabulary, and quizes for each chapter. I found it a great study source. The book was easy to understand, and very interesting. It gives examples of key ideas that are modern and easy to relate to. There are practice tests at the end of each chapter and most vocab is in bold font. Overall one of the best text books I have used!

A surprisingly enjoyable text book

Most text books are usually dry, and not an enjoyable read.
This book really surprised me, as it is enjoyable, easy to read and laid out in a way that makes it interesting without being overwhelming.
The author does a good job of presenting multiple sides of each area and formats the book in a nice way.
Highly recommended.

About the Author

Ronald B. Adler is Professor of Communication, Emeritus, at Santa Barbara City College. He is coauthor of Interplay: The Process of Interpersonal Communication, Twelfth Edition (OUP, 2013), Looking Out, Looking In (2014), and Communicating at Work: Principles and Practices for Business and the Professions (2013).

George Rodman is Professor in the Department of Television and Radio at Brooklyn College, City University of New York, where he founded the graduate media studies program. He is the author of Mass Media in a Changing World, Fourth Edition (2012), Making Sense of Media (2001), and several books on public speaking.

Athena du Pré is Professor of Communication at the University of West Florida. She is the author of Communicating About Health: Current Issues and Perspectives, Fourth Edition (OUP, 2014), as well as other books, journal articles, and chapters on communicating effectively in modern organizations.

Surprisingly Decent / Good

I was expecting my Interpersonal Communications class to be a bore, but this book wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It uses great examples, and explains things fairly well (with nice diagrams to boot). I felt that a lot of of the other social sciences were brought into this book or, at least, that there were overlapping concepts -- something that I personally thought was great.

Toying with Temptation is a great short holiday-ish novella. It is a romance that will appeal to anyone that loves to dive into a good Harlequin.

Hailey's a little hard to understand. She suffers from the "I don't want to turn into my mother" syndrome, that a lot of heroines have when their creators give them a mother that is less then perfect, but like Scrooge, she makes a turn around and really finds her heart in this story.

Don't get me wrong, she's not really Scrooge-like, but she doesn't feel the holiday spirit because of her mother's bad parenting.

Then there's her ex, Quinn, who she left at the alter 10 years before. Through most of the story, you can't help but wonder WHY! He's everything you could possibly want in a man, smart, successful, rich...gorgeous. And guess what? He still loves her.

The funniest scene in the book involves Quinn, a whale and the ocean. Perhaps not a pleasant thing for Quinn, but when you read it, you'll be laughing just a little.

This was a fun, cute romantic read. Great for the holidays!

Sweet romance

This is one of those novels that I just had to stay up late to finish. I paid for it the next day, but it was worth it. Toying with Temptation is a good and well written book. It's not a long story, but I didn't mind that so much. There was a sufficient amount of back story that I felt comfortable with the characters. Hailey and Quinn were once in love, until Hailey left him at the alter ten years earlier. Now she needs his help with a benefit that will help her company gain some good ground in the public eye. Through working together, can they find their way back to love? I loved these two together. I loved their HEA. I was happy that they were able to finally get to the heart of why Hailey walked away. This is the first book I have read by this author. I know I will be seeking out some of her other works!

Give in to temptation!

This was a sweet and steamy romance. ;-)

The last thing carreer driven Hailey wants to do is beg her former flame for anything. Having been turned down by every other possible company, she is left with no other options. Quinn wants to make her pay for what she did to him but the desire is short lived and soon these two are fighting their attraction for each other.

I liked the storyline and slightly flawed characters. It was a relatively quick read but had plenty to offer.

I received a copy of this book from CBLS in exchange for my honest opinion. I honestly liked it and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone who likes romance books.
