Rabbit internal Medicine: Must have for the rabbit Breeder

I recently purchased this book after a mysterious death of a weanling doe. This book is very informative and covers all areas of Rabbit disease and treatment. It was published in The United Kingdom so Americans will have to translate dosages from metric to U.S. measurements. I have found Section 4 which deals with infectious diseases especially helpful. It saved me a few trips to the vet just to get medication for a snuffles outbreak. From the data detailed in the book I was able to administer the proper amount of oxytetracycline to deal with the situation in the infected brood does. The book also includes fairly up to date research data on previously considered exotic conditions such as Encephalitozoon Cuniculi. Many medical books in the past exclusively used data compiled from laboratory animals. The publishers of "Rabbit Internal Medicine" have wisely chosen to include data collected from house rabbit associations as well as private breeders, and lab animals in an attempt to cover a much more realistic demographic. Many conditions such as the above mentioned E. Cuniculi rarely occur in lab animals, but are becoming known to be quite common in pet and show rabbits. This is a great book and a must have for the serious rabbit breeder or medical professional

This is not a book for a lay person with zero experience in medicine or rabbits - but it is a fantastic book for anyone seriously into rabbit medicine. Very thorough, detailed, and up to date. It is from the UK, so people across the pond will have to think about doses a second longer.

Postmodernist Logic

One of the most interesting thing about deviant logic is its widespread dismissal by the academic community despite the widespread application of fuzzy logic to home appliances and engineering devices and other aspects. Susan Haack has addressed the lacunae admirably in this wonderful book and she deserves every kudos for it. It is pitched at a not-too-technical level and should appeal to all layman and also the academics.

This is the best response to fuzzy logic?

Wow, what a disappointment this book is! First, it is quite pricey considering it is simply a collection of Haack's papers that have been published in various journals; one would expect better editing and perhaps even a glossary but this simply copies the papers verbatim.
For those who are beginners in formal logic or who have been out of the field for a while you will likely have problems beginning in the first chapter. Who remembers the definition of "wff"?
No, Haack should have completely rewritten the papers to make the ideas and arguments approachable for all readers of this book or at least she should have included something like "intended for the graduate level philosophy student" to make her intention clear. The book needs expansion of ideas beginning with some basics as well as some "niceties" such as a glossary of acronyms and some good editing.
That said, the basic premise of the book is rather a sad statement on the present level of thinking inside formal logic. Haack quite plainly states "I do not beleve truth comes in degrees"...Indeed. From a scientific/mathematical/engineering background, I find that quite a loaded statement and indicative of a completely closed pre-postmodernist mind.
Considering the work done in mathematics, computing and science since Godel by people like Turing, Chaitin and Prigogine showing the inconsistencies that may be found at the core of formal Aristotelian-based logic and its derivatives perhaps Haack should leave her foxhole. Yes, there is no reason to keep defending formal logic's shortcomings has long since disappeared along with Newton's view of the universe.
In the end, I would highly recommend anyone thinking about purchasing this book to consider the validity of "truth does not come in degrees" and then go and buy "Fuzzy Set Theory" and Perlovsky's latest.

Total satisfaction

It is the best. The quick and concise references in all aspects of construction detailing, calculations and specifications is invaluable. I have been using it for many years. In 2000 I introduced and used the Architectural Graphic Standards and the AGS Interiors in Bhutan while designing a hotel. The AGS belongs in every Architectural office and in various related offices. The completeness of information more than met my expectations.

This book has all the information I wanted and needed. I recommend it highly to anyone trying to struggle through a set of drawings. It does seem that it is organized differently than the one I had previously. My old one seemed a little easier to use.

It is from this foundation that the studies of stability, controllability and observability, realizations, state feedback, observers, and Kalman filters are derived. There is a direct and simple path from one topic to the next. The book includes both discrete- and continuous-time systems, introducing them in parallel and emphasizing each in appropriate context. Time-varying systems are discussed from generality and completeness, but the emphasis is on time-invariant systems, and only in time-domain; there is no treatment of matrix fraction descriptions or polynomial matrices. Tips for using MATLAB are included in the form of margin notes, which are placed wherever topics with applicable MATLAB commands are introduced. These notes direct the reader to an appendix, where a MATLAB command reference explains command usage. However, an instructor or student who is not interested in MATLAB usage can easily skip these references without interrupting the flow of text.

Sweet, colorful and fun

Since my children are only 1/4 Indian and have limited interaction with our family abroad, I used this book as an opportunity to share the rich culture and tradition that were so important to me growing up. This book was also the perfect way to introduce Holi to my 5-year-old's preschool on Multicultural Day. He was so proud to share with his friends. His 6 year old sister even offered to read it to his class!

Great series of trail guides

This whole series is very great. Each trail has a an easy to follow map as well as lots of information about the area. Trail ratings are fairly accurate as well. I use this book together with another authors book to plan multi day adventures. This book is short and simple. It gives me a basic plan which I complete using the much larger and cumbersome book by the other author.
